Can I use the public libraries?

Can CBC students be members of the Mid-Columbia Libraries (Kennewick, Pasco, West Richland, etc.) and/or the Richland Public Library? How can we access their electronic resources (ebooks & audiobooks, e-movies, and more) if they are closed and we don't have a library card? What about staff and faculty?

Answer

Wherever they live, and even if the public libraries are closed, CBC students and faculty can use their online resources for free, and the Richland Public Library provides the same to CBC staff - non-resident policies don't apply! When they are open you should go in with your CBC ID, get a library card, and check out their great print book collections!

Mid-Columbia Libraries: apply here: https://catalog.midcolumbialibraries.org/polaris/patronaccount/selfregister.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.6 The username and password that are created can be used to log in for services. After submitting the form the following page will have a temporary barcode - it can also be used along with the password (username or barcode are interchangeable). Their digital resources page links to their databases full of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, eMovies, eNewspapers and research/self-help databases.

Richland Public Library: apply online https://elibrary.richland.lib.wa.us/eg/opac/register using your columbiabasin.edu email; that will serve as proof of enrollment and they will email you a user/PIN. This site lists the online RPL resources: https://www.myrichlandlibrary.org/using-your-library/digital-resources
