How can I get the web-only content for publications?
I searched the discovery service, and although you have articles from x publication (example: The Atlantic) I can't find the article I saw on the web.
Answer
The publications we offer for research typically include all the content from the print edition; newspapers and magazines may offer additional content online for their subscribers, and they do not allow libraries to purchase a digital subscription. However, some of this content is archived in Newsbank, which is available to all CBC students and faculty through the Mid-Columbia and Richland public libraries (see this FAQ for membership info).
To use Newsbank, login at Library Card/Student ID Login (newsbank.com) by selecting either public library (type midc or rich) and entering your library card number. This will allow you to browse/search the 3,417 archives in the A-Z Source List or just do a phrase search in quotes if you know the title of the article. If you search for a publication title you may find there are current entries for both the print and a 'web edition.' Note that most of the newspapers' online "extras" come from the wire services, so you can often find the same article from many different papers.
Not all web-only content is available this way, but it is worth a search!
